Congratulations on the release of the hardcover version
of RV Mouse. Please tell us more about it.
This is a story about a little mouse that gets trapped in a
motor home and the chaos it
creates.
This
enchanting story, charmingly illustrated, recounts the escapades of one furry
little adventurer who is clearly out of his element in a motor home. Young
readers and their adult counterparts will enjoy reading this fast-moving tale,
told so convincingly from the mouse’s point of view.
—Robbin Gould, Editor,
Family Motor Coaching magazine
What was the inspiration for this book?
Some of the incidences actually happened when my family was
camping in our new motor home years ago. One night mice found an open vent the
manufacturer had not screened. I found the girl that had been sleeping on the
couch sitting outside on top of the picnic table. She said a mouse had woken
her up when its whiskers brushed her cheek. The idea was too good to ignore so
I made it into a book.
What is your favorite moment from the book?
When the woman is swinging the broom and bopping her husband
instead of the mouse.
Is this your first published book?
No, I believe Guardian Angel Publishing has about ten of my
books out now with more under contract. I also write Young Adult and Adult
fiction.
We’d love to hear more about you.
I am
a journalist and was an Assistant Editor for several magazines. I wrote for many newspapers and magazines, including Family Motor
Coaching, Trailblazer and RV’n
On. Although I still write articles for newspapers and magazines, my
favorite type of writing is fiction.
Besides RV Mouse, The Christmas Angel, and
its sequel, One Family’s Christmas, and the Andy & the Albino
Horse series, I also wrote the young adult Lynne Garrett series:
Goodbye Is Forever, Abducted!, and Sierra Summer. Also Kat’s
Cradle, which is a young adult
novel. Blue Coat, and The Homesteader series are my adult
Historical Western novels.
I recently received awards from The Nevada Press Assn. and
The National Press Assn. as a correspondent for The Lahontan Valley News.
I am a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and
the Alamo Defenders Descendents Association (credit goes to my ancestors for
that!). I am also a member of Made in Nevada -- http://madeinnevada.org.
Do you have any book signing events or book tours
scheduled for RV Mouse?
It will be at signings that are already scheduled for summer
and fall. I have been in contact with the Family Motor Coaching Assn. about the
possibility of signing at their
next convention.
How can our readers learn more about you and any upcoming
RV Mouse events?

The story sounds like one kids will just love. The inspiration for the story would not be my cup of tea, lol. I wish you great success Mary Jean. A wonderful interview, thanks so much for sharing.
Funny favorite moment. Made me laugh! Thanks for the interview.
Congratulations on your latest release. Hope you get to appear at the RV convention!
The last comment was from Donna McDine for some reason I couldn't sign in to my google account
Well done, Kai. Great to hear more about Mary Jean's background. A signing at an RV convention sounds perfect with all those grandparents in one place. BTW, I can relate to being bopped by a broom once or twice over the years....
