As a family filled with Army, Navy, and Marine veterans, Memorial Day is special to us. My brother lost two members of his unit in Afghanistan, and in 2005 one of my high school classmates was killed in Iraq. Here are a few ways you can help your children honor those brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for the sake of freedom.
- Visit a veteran's hospital.
- Visit a veteran's cemetery and place flowers at a veteran's grave site.
- Make a card for a serviceman or woman serving overseas.
- Send supplies to a unit serving overseas.
Please feel free to share your ideas for ways to honor our veterans.
