GAP FAMILY BLOG WELCOMES ELIZABETH YOUNG, AUTHOR OF DOZENS AND DOZENS OF COUSINS AND COUSINS

Congratulations on the release of Dozens and Dozens of Cousins and Cousins.  Please tell us more about it.

This is a story about how people and animals bond and help each other.  A young boy, Peter, wants to get all 48 of his cousins together for his birthday.  But the planes and trains are full, so Peter and his US cousins build a balloon.  A pilot friend helps Peter fly it to Canada to pick up Peter’s other twenty-four cousins. Along the way, they rescue an injured goose. On their return trip, the balloon loses its instruments and gets lost, but the goose, Sulgrave, rescues them.

What was the inspiration for this book?

Elizabeth: I have several friends who are balloonists and who introduce children to this wonderful hobby.  Also, we live on the water and have many resident Canada geese that we have come to know and love.

What is your favorite moment from the book?

Elizabeth: My favorite moment occurs when Sulgrave, the goose, returns to rescue the balloon with Peter and his cousins.

Is this your first published book?

No, I have two published novels, both mysteries:  Do You See Him Now? and FUGO.

We’d love to hear more about you.

I started my career in public broadcasting.  I have always written – although until five years ago, I specialized in technical articles and monographs for my teaching (communications, management).  Some years ago, I moved into the field of communications satellites.  Today, I consult in the communications field and also do volunteer work with the YMCA and various arts organizations.  Hobbies include singing, sailing, golf, traveling, and reading.  I have another children’s book under way as well as two more mysteries.

How can our readers learn more about you and any upcoming Dozens and Dozens of Cousins and Cousins events?

Elizabeth:  Please go to my web site: www.eyoungbooks.com, or to my Facebook page: eyoungbooks.com/pates/eyoungbooks

GAP FAMILY BLOG WELCOMES DONNA J SHEPHERD, AUTHOR OF AVA’S SECRET TEA PARTY

Congratulations on the release of “Ava’s Secret Tea Party.” Please tell us more about it.

Has your child dreamed of meeting Tooth Fairy, Santa, Sandman, or Easter Bunny? Ava wants to invite them to tea, but how? The answer lies with one special character who knows them ALL! In the style of classic fairy tales, I wrote "Ava's Secret Tea Party." Enjoy the tale, look for hidden teacups and chocolate chip cookies in the sweet illustrations by Bella Sinclair, and have fun making the recipes and crafts included in the book!

What was the inspiration for this book?

When my daughter was little, she and her cousin had tea parties all the time. They never tired of them, so I knew a book about tea parties would appeal to children – and to the grownups, too. I still have tea every evening!

What is your favorite moment from the book?

When I first saw the finished illustrations, I would think I had a favorite until I saw the next one. Bella Sinclair brought such beautiful detail and whimsy to the book with her illustrations. But I have to say that when the Tooth Fairy first makes an appearance, I laughed out loud. She is precious, and I’m particularly fond of the rhyme on that page. Seeing it in hardcover thrilled me. I’m hoping it is one that children will reach for time and time again.

Is this your first published book?

No, this is my ninth book for children, my eighth with Guardian Angel Publishing.

We’d love to hear more about you.

I’m a children's picture book author and inspirational writer with hundreds of articles and devotionals published – so far! All of my books for kids feature short, playful rhymes and humorous illustrations by several different and oh-so-talented illustrators. I’m the founder of Greater Harvest Workshops and Middletown Area Christian Writers, and a Bible teacher, conference speaker, singer, and voiceover artist. I live in the Cincinnati area with two dogs, two birds, and one husband. I have two grown children who inspire me every day.

Do you have any book signing events or book tours scheduled for “Ava’s Secret Tea Party”?

Several bloggers have graciously hosted me already and I have several more stops to make.

How can our readers learn more about you and any upcoming “Ava’s Secret Tea Party” events?

Bella Sinclair drew coloring pages and a banner for the blog at http://www.asecretteaparty.blogspot.  I hope you’ll visit the blog where you will find coloring pages, puzzles, more recipes, and of course, information on how you can purchase your own copy of Ava’s Secret Tea Party. Come visit me in Topsy Turvy Land (http://www.topsyturvyland.com) for even more fun or join the fan page on Facebook to keep updated on everything I’m doing: http://www.facebook.com/donnajshepherd

Thank you for stopping in to share “Ava’s Secret Tea Party” with us. Readers can purchase their copy here. We are proud to add it to the ever-growing line of quality titles from Guardian Angel Publishing.

Thank you! I never grow tired of talking about writing for children.

GAP FAMILY BLOG WELCOMES MARY ESPARZA-VELA, AUTHOR OF “THE SMILING BURRO”

Congratulations on the release of “THE SMILING BURRO.” Please tell us more about it.

About the book:
This humorous and heartwarming picture book is targeted for children 4-8 years of age. It is about a tiny burro that shows up at a little boy’s house and becomes a real asset to the family. The day he disappears, they never expect to see him again until he prances in one dark, spooky night.

What was the inspiration for this book?

Mary:  When I was a child, my maternal grandfather would visit every weekend. He was a great storyteller and I looked forward to hearing his ghost stories before going to bed. The entire family always gathered around him and once he started, we were glued to our seats. “The Smiling Burro” became one of my favorite stories.

What is your favorite moment from the book?

Mary:  My favorite moment is the surprise ending.

Is this your first published book?

Mary:  This is my fourth book. The book is also being published in Spanish. Other published books include “The Odd Chick,” “The Turtle Who Imagined,” and “Bearly Learning About Water.”

We’d love to hear more about you.

Before writing for children, I worked as an Editorial Assistant at a medical facility. I have written articles for religious publications and won various online writing contests, including “Honorable Mention” in a Writer’s Digest competition (Children’s category). “The Turtle Who Imagined” recently won a 2012 Book of the Year Award. I am also a patented inventor of three award-winning plush dolls. Picture book adventures with the doll characters are coming soon. You’re welcome to see the dolls at www.marysdollsandbooks.com. I live in Texas with my husband and three children.

GAP FAMILY BLOG WELCOMES Penelope Anne Cole, AUTHOR OF Magical Matthew.

Congratulations on the release of Magical Matthew.  Please tell us more about it.

About the book:
Matthew has a big secret.  He can fix things magically with his mind.  Matthew secretly uses his magic to fix things for his family and friends.  Later, he expands his magical good deeds by fixing things in his neighborhood.  Matthew’s friend, Lily, suspects something is special about him.  Matthew must decide whether to tell her the truth or not.

What was the inspiration for this book?

Penelope: My book was inspired by my friend's son, Matthew, when he attained "double digits."  I thought, “How Magical is that – he’s not a kid anymore!”  Which led to, what if he really had magic?  What would he do?  And would he tell people, or keep it a secret?.

What is your favorite moment from the book?

Penelope: There are two special moments for me.  First, when Matthew confides in his Grandma Nonie, showing he’s comfortable sharing his secret with a trusted adult.  And, second, when he realizes he has abilities and talents beyond magic.

Is this your first published book?

Penelope:  Yes

Congratulations! We’d love to hear more about you.

GAP FAMILY BLOG WELCOMES Marilee Crow, AUTHOR OF Once There Was A Monster

GAP FAMILY BLOG WELCOMES Marilee Crow, AUTHOR OF Down By The Shore, Alleycat, A Short Tale About A Long Tail, Does Heaven Get Mail?, Cartwheel Annie, A Pocketful of Manners and Once There Was A Monster.

Congratulations on the release of Once There Was A Monster. Please tell us more about it.

About the book:

Every child at some point in their lives has a fear of monsters. Through charming, funny rhyme, see how one child conquers her fear of the monster in her room. What happens when the child finds out that monsters have fears too?

What was the inspiration for this book?

Marilee: I still have to have the closet door closed at night or I can't go to sleep. The clothes hanging there creep me out in the dark.

What is your favorite moment from the book?

Marilee: When the monster comes up from under the house with all these creepy crawlies.

Is this your first published book?

Marilee: No, this is my 9th.

We’d love to hear more about you.

I have retired to South Carolina. Before that, I lived in Southern California where I worked at a private school for special education students. I was one of the PE teachers. I have been married to my best friend for 36 years. When we were younger, we owned a gymnastic center. We taught and had a competitive team for 18 years, all the while, raising one daughter.

I have always loved to write. I wrote two romance novels and had them published before I began writing children's stories. I was taking a poetry class and when it came to the rhyming section of the course, I could only think of Dr. Seuss. I began putting together a corny little rhyme about a little girl who took a trip to the beach. That's when I realized I had all these children's stories in me.

Do you have any book signing events or book tours scheduled for Once There Was A Monster?

Marilee: I have a couple of Fall Festivals I'll be at with all my books.

How can our readers learn more about you and any upcoming Once There Was A Monster events?

Marilee: I have a blogspot: booksbymarilee.blogspot.com and I'm on facebook, where I usually post for family and friends of my signings.

Thank you for stopping in to share Once There Was A Monster with us. Readers can purchase their copies here. We are proud to add it to the ever-growing line of quality titles from Guardian Angel Publishing

GAP FAMILY BLOG WELCOMES JENNIFER REED, AUTHOR OF DOODLE GIRL

Congratulations on the release of Doodle Girl. Please tell us more about it.

About the book:

Rachel loves to doodle on walls, on her school books, on her back pack. Anywhere Rachel can doodle she does, but it gets her into big trouble. She tries to draw and color in other places. She learns she can mix colors and make more colors. Suddenly, Rachel’s doodling becomes a lot more fun!

What was the inspiration for this book?

Jennifer:  My daughter Emma was always drawing pictures. I’d find them on walls, on her toys, on her books.

What is your favorite moment from the book?

Jennifer: When Rachel, the main character, was caught drawing on the wall behind her bed- that really happened.

Is this your first published book?

Jennifer: No, this is my fourth published book with Guardian Angel and my 28th published book total.

We’d love to hear more about you.

I knew I wanted to be a writer in the second grade. That’s when the magic happened. I wrote short stories about a little hedgehog named Harold. I pursued writing whenever possible. In high school, I wrote for the school newspaper. I majored in English and writing in college. I worked on newspapers and magazines and did a lot of freelance writing. I got my master’s degree at Vermont College of Fine Arts in writing for children and teens. I love to write and share ideas with children! I have two older teens who have always given me much to write about.

Do you have any book signing events or book tours scheduled for Doodle Girl?

Jennifer: Nothing regular. I sometimes do school visits locally.

How can our readers learn more about you and any upcoming Doodle Girl events?

GAP FAMILY BLOG WELCOMES TRACY HELIXON, AUTHOR OF LITTLE ISAAC’S BIG ADVENTURE.

Congratulations on the release of LITTLE ISAAC’S BIG ADVENTURE. Please tell us more about it.

About the book:

What if you could swing so high that you landed on a cloud and traveled through the sky? Isaac finds the answer to this question on a whimsical and windy fall day, full of surprises. He discovers that being small does have its advantages.

What was the inspiration for this book?

Tracy: When I was a little girl, I loved to swing on the swing set.  I used to pump as hard as I could, then look up at the sky and try to reach the clouds.  I always wondered what it would be like to swing high enough to land on one of those clouds.  Also, I wrote the story at a time when my second child sometimes became frustrated because he couldn’t do all the things his big brother could do. Those two concepts came together to inspire LITTLE ISAAC’S BIG ADVENTURE.

What is your favorite moment from the book?

Tracy: My favorite part of the book is actually the first illustrated page, when Isaac hears the wind whispering, but his big brother doesn’t hear it.  Illustrator Jack Foster captured the moment so perfectly – with the colorful fall leaves swirling in the background and Isaac looking up at the sky.  I also like that page because even though Isaac hasn’t realized it yet, he is beginning to learn that he has a special and unique perspective – not in spite of his smallness, but because of his smallness.  I hope the book will help young children to realize how special they truly are, wherever they happen to be in life.

Is this your first published book?

Tracy: Yes – and I couldn’t be happier to work with the wonderful people at GAP!

We’d love to hear more about you.

Thanks for asking!  I have enjoyed reading and writing for as long as I can remember.  I grew up on books like Frog and Toad are Friends, Danny and the Dinosaur, The Happy Hollisters, and Little House on the Prairie.  When I found a good book, I had a hard time putting it down – even to go to sleep. I am the oldest of five children, and I also have a large extended family.  My siblings, cousins, and I used to write plays and perform them for our families.  My parents, aunts, uncles, and grandparents always encouraged our creativity, and I’m so thankful for that.

Today, I am a full-time English teacher at a two-year college in Wisconsin.  My husband and I live in Wisconsin with our three children, who love to make up stories of their own!

Do you have any book signing events or book tours scheduled for LITTLE ISAAC’S BIG ADVENTURE?

Tracy: I am very excited to share this story with young readers!  Because of my teaching schedule, I am still in the process of arranging these kinds of events.  I will post updates to my author website:  www.tracyhelixon.com

How can our readers learn more about you and any upcoming LITTLE ISAAC’S BIG ADVENTURE events?

Please visit my website at www.tracyhelixon.com  If you read the book, you can also leave me a note there.  I’d love to hear from you!

Thank you for stopping in to share LITTLE ISAAC’S BIG ADVENTURE with us. Readers can purchase their own copy here. We are proud to add it to the ever-growing line of quality titles from Guardian Angel Publishing.

GAP FAMILY BLOG WELCOMES Jennifer LB Leese, AUTHOR OF “JORDIE’S SCHOOL DAY ADVENTURE”

Congratulations on the release of JORDIE’S SCHOOL DAY ADVENTURE. Please tell us more about it.

About the book:

This book is about Jordie's first day of pre-school. She's excited and ready to go. That is, until she gets to school and sees all the children. Now, she's ready to go home. Her mommy hands her a small picture of herself for Jordie to look at whenever she gets nervous. Jordie places it in her pocket for safe keeping. Slowly, Jordie starts to relax and within no time she's having lots of fun. She plays dolls and blocks during center time, she listens to her teacher read her a story from a big red book, and she sits beside her new friend, Sue during snack time. By the time her mommy comes to get her, she can't wait to come back again.

What was the inspiration for this book?

Jennifer: My daughter. She was having a tough time being excited about starting school, because she knew she was going to miss being with me. Because of that, I got the idea to laminate a photo of myself and attached it to a piece of string so she could wear it around her neck. She was so excited to take me to school with her.

What is your favorite moment from the book?

Jennifer: The part where Jordie plays on the slide. I think the photo matches the text just perfectly. Kym (Jones, illustrator) really did an awesome job. Seeing her illustrations really makes me think of when I used to volunteer with my daughter at school. Brings back such sweet memories – especially now that my daughter is 15-years-old.

Is this your first published book?

Jennifer: No, I have several books. Several more children’s books (I AM ME, BOWS FOR PIGEL’S NOSE, and SOUNDS I CAN HEAR: IN A CAR) are due out with Guardian Angel sometime soon.

We’d love to hear more about you.

I have several published works including many articles, several children’s fiction picture books, a young adult fantasy book, and a paranormal fiction novel. I freelance children's non-fiction books for book distribution and packaging companies and currently I work for the weekly newspaper, Picket News, in my hometown where I wear many hats that of which include editor, lead writer, graphic designer, layout, and whatever other hats may need wearing. I also freelance for local businesses designing brochures, advertisements, and print material.

Additionally, as an ordained minister, I perform weddings a few times a year.

I live in Maryland with my three children, Nicholas, Cameron, and Jordan, my husband, Thom, and our two dogs, Lily and Thorn, two cats, Orchid and Gray, Leo the iguana, two rats, and Meloni the bunny.

How can our readers learn more about you and any upcoming JORDIE’S SCHOOL DAY ADVENTURE events?

Jennifer: I have an author website at www.jenniferlbleese.weebly.com, which I am currently, and always trying to update.

Thank you for stopping in to share JORDIE’S SCHOOL DAY ADVENTURE with us. Readers can purchase their copy here. We are proud to add it to the ever-growing line of quality titles from Guardian Angel Publishing.

GAP FAMILY BLOG WELCOMES STACEY MARSHALL, AUTHOR OF Captain Courage and the Fear-Squishing Shoes

Congratulations on the release of Captain Courage and the Fear-Squishing Shoes. Please tell us more about it.

About the book:

In the story, a precocious third grader named Katie shrivels with fear during various common scenarios at her new school such as:  presenting at show and tell, chatting in the lunchroom, participating in class, and navigating the playground scene.  Unexpectedly, a unique superhero, Captain Courage, swoops in to the rescue and helps Katie find self confidence and courage.

What was the inspiration for this book?

Stacey: As a public speaking coach, motivational speaker, speech-language pathologist and Mom, I am acutely aware of the role that speaking with confidence can have on overall self esteem—especially in children.  So, many years ago, I invented a superhero/role model named Captain Courage, which I used in public speaking classes I taught in elementary schools.  I actually taught lessons about speaking with confidence and courage disguised as this outlandishly-dressed superhero.  Then, I decided to write fun-filled stories about Captain Courage and sneak in tips about confident, effective communication.  Hence, Captain Courage and the Fear-Squishing Shoes was born!

What is your favorite moment from the book?

Stacey:  The moment when Captain Courage unexpectedly makes his debut in Katie’s classroom, surprising everyone with his superpowers AND his identity!

Ooo, sounds intriguing! Is this your first published book?

Stacey:  Yes, but I’ve had numerous articles published in local and national magazines and newspapers.

We’d love to hear more about you.
Stacey:  I’ve mentioned that I’m currently a public speaking coach and Mom to two near-perfect children (Yes, I’m a little bit biased!).  I also have a background in broadcasting.  I have worked for CNN in Atlanta, WXDU Durham, and K97 Charlotte where I’ve done everything from delivering the news and serving as news director-to-public relations.  In my varied professional experiences as well as in my personal life, I’m constantly reminded about the importance of effective communication, namely verbal communication.   My hope is that Captain Courage will inspire children to speak up with poise and self-assuredness in any situation.

Do you have any book signing events or book tours scheduled for Captain Courage and the Fear-Squishing Shoes?

Stacey:  Yes, I already have some book signing events on the calendar.  Readers can learn about events by following me on Twitter @smarshallauthor

How can our readers learn more about you and any information related to Captain Courage and the Fear-Squishing Shoes?

Stacey:  I hope that readers will visit me at www.captaincourage.com as well as www.staceymarshall.com to learn more about Captain Courage and me.

Thank you for stopping in to share Captain Courage and the Fear-Squishing Shoes with us. Readers can purchase their copy here. We are proud to add it to the ever-growing line of quality titles from Guardian Angel Publishing

Congratulations on the release of Seymour the Semi - Space Truckin’. Please tell us more about it.

About the book:

After a storm damages their supply shuttle, the National Outer Space Explorers, (NOSE), calls on Seymour the Semi for help in getting supplies to the space station. Seymour agrees to help and goes on his greatest adventure yet.

What was the inspiration for this book?

Scott: I’ve always been intrigued by space travel and I’ve always loved trucks. Connecting the two was an easy choice.

What is your favorite moment from the book?

Scott: When Seymour  is reentering the Earth’s atmosphere.

Is this your first published book?

My wife, Joanne, and I have 2 children and 3 grandchildren. Being a grandfather helped  inspire me to write children’s stories, so Seymour the Semi was born.
I look forward to sharing more  Seymour the Semi adventures in the near future.

GAP FAMILY BLOG WELCOMES LINDA DERKEZ, AUTHOR OF ONE LARGE PEANUT BUTTER SANDWICH TO GO

Congratulations on the release of PEANUT BUTTER SANDWICH TO GO. Please tell us more about it. What was the inspiration for this book?

Scotty is in the habit of walking around with his food, leaving crumbs all over, rather than sitting at the table to eat. Mom is in the habit of letting him. One day Mom decides to use her imagination to fix this growing problem. When Scotty asks to walk to the clinic where his father works a few blocks away with his peanut butter and jelly sandwich, Mom says sure—but has he considered all the people who might ask for a bite of his delicious lunch? When Scotty's sandwich grows impossibly bigger and bigger in his mind to account for all the people who'll ask for a bite, he must make a decision about whether it's wiser to keep his sandwich for himself by sitting at the table to eat it.

Linda: When I was pregnant, I vowed I would be the kind of mother who would insist that my children eat only at the table. Somehow the opposite happened! They ate all over the house! I wrote this story to give a light-hearted reason why it's important to eat meals at the table.

What is your favorite moment from the book?

Linda: When the dog wants to share some of Scotty’s ever-growing sandwich.

Is this your first published book?

Linda: My first book, The Missing Stories: Caleb’s Missing Whisper & Other Stories, was published by Hard Shell Word Factory (currently unavailable). Chip’s Sharing Day was my second children’s book.

We’d love to hear more about you.

Linda: I like to write stories for children that teach them manners and right from wrong (like sharing with their friends or how to behave in the library) in an amusing way.

How can our readers learn more about you and any upcoming events?

Author: Visit me my website: http://www.angelfire.com/stars4/kswiesner/linda.html

GAP FAMILY BLOG WELCOMES KAREN WIESNER, AUTHOR OF CODY KNOWS

CODY KNOWS follows the imagination and adventures of a single day in the life of an Indiana Jones-wanna-be toddler.

Congratulations on the release of CODY KNOWS. Please tell us more about it. What was the inspiration for this book?

Karen: My son is in high school now and has been an avid lover of books from birth. I wrote CODY KNOWS for him when he was just a baby, wanting to highlight what a unique, special child he is. He looks at the world in an unusual way that I hope will captivate others as much as it has my husband and I. Candy’s illustrations really bring out the single-day-of-adventure, harried pace we went through living with our son when he was little.

What is your favorite moment from the book?

Karen: The last page, the little angel, finally asleep while Mom and Dad collapse. It’s very true to life!

Is this your first published book?

Karen: No. Far from it, but it is a very special book to me. It was originally published in 2003 in electronic formats only, and it’s finally coming to print now with Guardian Angel. I couldn’t be happier.

We’d love to hear more about you.

I’ve had 89 books published in the past 14 years, which have been nominated for and/or won 123 awards, and 17 more titles under contract. My books cover genres as women’s fiction, romance, mystery/police procedural/cozy, suspense, paranormal, futuristic, gothic, inspirational, thriller, horror, chick-lit, and action/adventure. Look for Writing the Series, my next offering from Writer’s Digest Books, in May 2013. My previous writing reference titles focused on non-subsidy, royalty-paying electronic publishing, author promotion, and setting up a promotional group like my own, the award-winning Jewels of the Quill, which I founded in 2003. GAP FAMILY BLOG WELCOMES Andi Houdek author of Mice in My Tummy

Congratulations on the release of Mice in My Tummy.  Please tell us more about it.

About the book:

Mice in My Tummy is about a kindergartener named Sami Rae.  She loves school but finds it hard sometimes.  Whenever the teacher asks Sami Rae to count or say the alphabet, she feels funny movements in her tummy. After this happens two or three times, she decides a family of mice have moved into her tummy. At her dance recital, she finds out her best friend Sarah has butterflies living in her tummy.  All ends well when Sami Rae talks to her dance teacher and finds out being nervous is normal and happens to everyone.

What was the inspiration for this book?

Andi: My daughter Samantha came home from kindergarten one day and very seriously informed me that mice where living in her tummy.  I sat down with her and she told me how hard kindergarten was sometimes.  After speaking with her, I realized our young children have a lot of stress in their lives but don’t have the words to describe it.  My hope is to give words and reassurance to our youngest school children.

What is your favorite moment from the book?

Andi: My favorite moment is when Sami Rae realizes her friend Sarah is nervous also. When they let their dance teacher know what they are feeling, she validates their feelings and lets them know it’s okay to be nervous.

Is this your first published book?

Andi: This is my second published book.  It is in its second printing due to unforeseen events from its first printing with a different publisher.

We’d love to hear more about you.

Andi: I am always full of ideas. I bought a small tape recorder so that whenever I have an idea I can record it.  My memory is getting worse and I tend to forget to write down great thoughts I have.  This method of cataloging my ideas is working out famously for me!
I have been super fortunate in belonging to some great critique groups and my illustrator Kevin Collier is amazing!

I find this funny:  People will say there is an author among us and I will look around, wondering who it is.

How can our readers learn more about you and any upcoming Mice in My Tummy events?

Andi:  I keep my facebook page updated: https://www.facebook.com/AndiHoudek.  I would love to hear from my readers!

Thank you for stopping in to share Mice in My Tummy with us. Readers can order their copy here. We are proud to add it to the ever-growing line of quality titles from Guardian Angel Publishing.

Laced with humor and a message to put other’s desires above one’s own the book is an example of self sacrifice and true friendship. Reluctant readers will snap up the book and discover the fun reading can be.

What was the inspiration for this book?

Jessica: My sister was the inspiration for the main character, Klutzy Kantor, of the series, because he’s a total klutz and brilliant. This book focuses on a curse, and a friend’s selflessness to end the curse. I’ve got two nephews cursed with an addiction to heroin, and I’d sacrifice anything for them to get sober.

What is your favorite moment from the book?

Jessica: When Kantor sacrifices his wish so that Spystar’s wish would be granted.

Is this your first published book?

Jessica: No, it’s my fifth with Guardian Angel Publishing.

We’d love to hear more about you.

I’m the differently-abled writer & speaker, a ventilator dependent quadriplegic. I love to give inspirational speeches. As a speaker, I entertain, instruct, motivate and inspire audiences of all ages by focusing on what I CAN do instead of CAN’T. I surround myself with family, friends and positivity in Texas, the friendly state. I’ve written four other picture books, Klutzy Kantor, Stella the Fire Farting Dragon, and Marta’s Gargantuan Wings, and Buster Bear & Uncle B published by Guardian Angel Publishing.

GAP FAMILY BLOG WELCOMES LINDA DERKEZ, AUTHOR OF CHIP’S SHARING DAY

Congratulations on the release of CHIP’S SHARING DAY. Please tell us more about it. What was the inspiration for this book?

Cousin Dorcas is visiting today and Chip's mother tells him he must share his toys because it's kind and nice and fair to share. Shy Dorcas picks up one toy after the other, only to have that rascal Chip remind her that they have to share and take turns playing with his toys. Finally, Dorcas decides to be kind and nice and fair by sharing something with Chip that he might not actually want! Chip finds himself reluctantly admiring his cousin for beating him at his own game.

Linda: The inspiration for this book were real teddy bears that I gave voices and personalities to. Chip was a cute stuffed bear, but I could tell he was quite naughty. J

What is your favorite moment from the book?

Linda: When shy Cousin Dorcas earns Chip's respect with her trick.

Is this your first published book?

Linda: My first book was another for children. The Missing Stories: Caleb’s Missing Whisper & Other Stories was published by Hard Shell Word Factory, but it’s no longer available.

We’d love to hear more about you.

Linda: I get inspired by many things: The things my children do and shouldn't, and don't do and should! Animals, stuffed animals and dolls inspire me. They have so much personality sometimes, they write their own stories.

How can our readers learn more about you and any upcoming events?

Thank you for stopping in to share CHIP’S SHARING DAY with us. Readers, you can order your own copy here. We are proud to add it to the ever-growing line of quality titles from Guardian Angel Publishing.

Thank you! J

New Review of Little Shepherd by Cheryl C. Malandrinos

"I recommend this book for anyone four years old and up. It would make a perfect reading for children’s church during Advent or at home for the whole family on Christmas Eve."

Early Reviews for Little Shepherd by Cheryl C. Malandrinos

“Little Shepherd by Cheryl C. Malandrinos is a fresh rendition of the familiar story of the angels appearing to the shepherds in the field and announcing the birth of the Savior. The unique slant to this particular retelling of the scriptural story is that the reader sees the event through the eyes of a little shepherd boy, tending his first-ever flock of sheep. As a grandmother, I would be delighted to read this story to my grandchildren. As such, I recommend it to parents/grandparents/teachers everywhere who wish to bring this passage of scripture to life for impressionable young hearts to understand”.

–Kathi Macias, radio host and award-winning author of more than 30 books, including the Extreme Devotion series and Valeria’s Cross http://www.kathimacias.com/; http://kathieasywritermacias.blogspot.com/

“Heartstrings will be tugged as readers journey to the manger with a little shepherd boy. Obed’s father entrusted him with his first flock of sheep. Everything seems to be going perfect until angels fill the sky with an unusual request. Obed’s gripping tale promises to inspire and become a family favorite.”
